Our Play
Playing Based on the premise “Play is the business of childhood”: Self directed learning replaces chalk talk where children learn by doing from everything they do, Where play is the language of young children that ignites a passion for learning Where play is the means to build specific academic, and perceptual skills needed for literacy and numeracy Where children are motivated to discover the underlying principles for themselves Where learning is a dynamic process CREATING Sensory motor engagement provides the means for: Expressions ideas, emotions, experiences, through drama, music, dance, movement, art fantasy Stimulating the initiative to explore and experiment Stimulating the curiosity to create unconditionally Stimulating the imagination to think divergently, independently, abstractly and to pretend and fantasise without inhibition.
A home from home
“A home from home” ethos provides every child with a sense of identity, belonging and acceptance in the community, where every child’s strengths are recognised and nurtured where every learning style is facilitated in a safe, supportive environment an extension of the home and family, where diversity is strength where an atmosphere of “relaxed alertness” facilitates the individual’s striving to realise potential. Happy children are those whose emotional, social, creative physical, intellectual and linguistic growth is the outcome of an affirmative experience at school.
